This is strictly a newbie question.
Car: 1957 Giulietta Normale
What: I'm installing a spare veloce rear axle assembly (complete with brakes) for the larger brakes and because it has an LSD (my normale axle is welded).
As you all know, the rear brake union attached to the pumpkin is held on via one of the flange studs. The nuts on the Veloce axle look like they are from 1957, and I'd like to install new locking nuts rather than use the original lock plates.
Question: What the size of the pumpkin output flange studs?
I'm guessing they are M8-1. It's a guess because I only have an M8-1.25 thread chaser, which is too coarse to fit.
Is this a fairly common size on old Alfas?
Thanks.
John
