Once again I needed to root around my workshop looking for a solution to replacing an impossible-to-find part for my S3. This time it was that access cover to the third brake light bulb located on the underside of the camtail. The PO used black duct tape, which although effective, looked terrible. The solution was quite easy - a piece of 3/32 clear plexiglass, sanded to accept paint, and a dab of superglue. Works great, and maybe the only solution as these replacement plates seem to be rare.
My solution was simple, cheap, and, like yours, much better than black duct tape. I found a piece of thin black plastic somewhere in the garage from G-d knows what, shaped it, and secured it with trim screws.
