This does not look like a bolt I have seen concerning the head.
Without some kind of measuring tool/object (dollar bill, old tennis shoe, yard stick,
etc) next to it, it's hard to even guess where it might go. ..

A little lower than the head but looks like the alternator bracket?

Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the physical head of the bolt being thin.

I think your right. That was my hunch that it goes to the alternator bracket. Thanks!
Yep, with that washer, looks like alternator to me.

Bolts like this (8mm coarse thread, thin-head) were used to attach the engine transmission spacers on some engines. They like this one I just bought from Fred S here on the BB. The recessed holes on the right under the starter hole use thin-head bolts.

The forgotten use of the hyphen in a phrasal adjective: thin-head bolt.

It's called a low head hex bolt, in the fastener industry. Looks like that used on the alternator bracket to me, too.
