After trying to remove the head from my 1967 GTV (it had never been off), I found it so tight that it would not budge.

I sprayed some penetrant around the studs and let it soak for a few weeks.

Then, I removed the cams and upper chain, put the car in 5th gear and pushed it backward untill the one and four pistons dropped around 2 inches.

Then, I fed about three feet of 1/4" rope down the one and four plug holes, gently pushed the car forward and the head popped right up.

A little working and it came right off.

The reason I took it off to begin with was it had zero compression in #two cylinder.

Removed the valves and this is what the exhaust valve looked like.

Well I guess after seeing that you'll be moving along to find the real reason for the zero compression
