Frederico/Cabrai #166?
Yes, this picture and a few more with the race number visible (different angles and trunk lid and door closed) can be found on Getty Images here.

Notice the Mustang in the rear of shot #2 of the Getty Images. I just love these olde photos.
I thought the same thing - who brought a shiny new Mustang all the way to Sicily, and why? Where are the hubcaps?

I love those mysteries in great photos.....who are the cute kids? Neighborhood kids? Dressed too nice? Maybe the bossman-in-the-sweater's kids.
Where are the hubcaps?
It's Sicily - they've been stolen.

Very interesting pictures.

Any one know more about the tubes at the front of the air box and the catch tank?? connected to the cam cover vent.

Been waiting for somebody to comment on what appears to be a prototype cold air box. Vents for each carb throat going to the intake instead of the box. Obviously turned out to be overkill.
There is also some kind of metal plate arrangement between the firewall and the engine, an early Sprint GT bonnet stay, and what looks to be a non-standard screen wash reservoir just aft of the brake reservoir.
