I have recently acquired a 1984 Alfetta GTV 2.0. It is in very good condition however the front suspension seems very harsh over even relatively minor bumps. Every bump feels like I've hit a big hole. The shock abosrbers seem good and there is nothing obviously wrong anywhere that I can see.
Can anyone please tell me the most likely cause(s) of such a hard ride.
The car has 15 x 7 Simmons wheels instead of the original 14 inch steel wheels if that makes any difference.
The rear suspension is fine.
Thank you.

Do you have another similar car to compare to? Maybe that's just how they are. Are the tires firm, low-profile types? They can cause harsh ride. It may be that the bushings, balljoints, etc., have gotten stiff and/or loose from wear or non-use.
