I'm looking for a really clean Series 3 Spider in Southern California. I've been a long time Alfa fan, but this will be my first Alfa. I'm not that good with a wrench, so I need one that is already in great condition: well maintained (and documented maintenance); no rust; no collisions; very good (or better) exterior and interior condition; AC blows cold; good transmission/smooth shifting, etc. I will have an independent Alfa specialist do a thorough pre-purchase inspection before I buy one.

Any suggestions/leads related to such a car would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Desmo Dude:

Your quad looks pretty nice from the photos in your link. I'm really looking for a Veloce (or maybe a graduate). I should have put that in my post. Also, I'm looking for a car with verified miles. Good luck with the sale!

Bump. Just want to let folks know that I'm still looking.

While I want one in as good a condition as possible, I realize I may not find one that is already perfect.

I am only interested in Series 3 at this time (thanks for the leads on Series 4's though).

Everyone should know what they want, and what the limits are. My car doesn't meet every one of your stated objectives, but the exceptions are not significant in my opinion.

Series 3 cars have the most compromises, and so are the least expensive. However, they came with infinitely better steel than the S1 or S2, so are more likely to endure over time.

You can find my car on Ebay at Alfa Romeo : Spider - eBay (item 280635737200 end time Mar-07-11 12:06:13 PST). It's going to sell for vastly less than it would take to acquire a running S3 and put it into similar condition. I got lucky and had some inheritance about the time I bought the car, so just went ahead and did things the right way without much concern for the long-term payback.

We're not that far via SW airlines from So-Cal.

Otherwise, good luck in your search!

Don
