I'm now the proud owner of an Alfasud. It's in great all round condition generally, however, the front seats are worn. Is it possible to put seats in from a later model Alfa?

it is difficult to fit the seats from later models such as the 33 since the spacing of the seat tracks is different. Unless you have a way of modifying the tracks so they can fit the job will be very difficult. Perhaps seats from another Alfa would fit, like an Alfetta GTV, but you will have to measure them up first.

It might be less hassle and more straight forward to have the seats repaired or re-upholstered, the cost isnt actually all that bad, contrary to what people think.

Thanks for that. I was thinking getting about seats from a later model Alfa, maybe a 145/6/7. I'll nip down the local scrap yard with a tape measure. European cars are a bit of a luxury here but there are lots of cheap Japanese imports, which is great if you want a fast reliable car - where's the fun? Luckily there's a scrap yard that specialises in Euro's in Christchurch.

If you have a hatchback sud, they have the later type floorpan and the seats from any alfa 33 or late model sprint will be a direct bolt in. Done it myself.

In fact I have the recaro seat rails from an alfa 33 16v p4 waiting to go in. Just need some recaros

I have a pair of recaro's in the shed, but I like the use of my back seats

RECARO seats will only bolt in directly if you have the special seat rails from a late model 33 16v p4. The floor mount on these rails is the same, but they have special adaptors to accomodate the recaros.

Yes, that's right. The early suds had wider seat rails and cannot accomodate later 33 type seats.

The later, HATCH suds (82-84) had fittings for both types of rails. So sud or 33 type seats are a bolt in. If you have a hatch sud, you will see this extra set of mounting points in the floor if you lift the carpet. You will have to cut the carpet back to use these mounts.

Aha! yes you are quite right i just went and had another look (as the carpet is out)
and the floor does indeed have two sets of holes>

marvellous, recaros it is then.

Just need to get a bit creative with the rear seat back now.
