I drove the 164 in harsh New York and New Jersey winter roads for many years and with a set of Nokian snow tire, the car handles really well. If you drive accordingly in a controlled manner, you shouldn't have any problems. Of course, all season tires is another story.
I hope the tow truck driver who rescued this 164 didn't hook onto the rear control arms of the car. I seen this happen many times. It bent the control arms and totally messes up the alignment.
With heated seats, a warm heater, (after recent thermostat replacement), and 4 studded Hankook snow tires, my 164S is a great snow car! I had it in the mountains this week for the SIA ski show, and after a night of -40's, it started w/ only minor complaints. If it wasn't for the morons w/ suv's that think that 4wd and "all weather" tires make them invincible, it wouldn't be too bad out ther right now! Hope everyone is warm and safe, I know its worse for a lot of people, at least our DOT knows how to deal w/ lots of snow!
