In the process of cleaning the lot-rot rust off of my brake parts, I discovered that the right rear lower caliper boss (hole in the drum-in-hat bracket) is stripped! Any creative ideas on how to repair this without pulling the axle shaft and installing a new bracket? I searched and found another post that mentioned this problem, so I'm not alone...

OK, maybe I am alone on this one... When I get around to fixing it, I'll document any success. Thinking about welding and taping, but I'm not even sure what the bracket's made of at this point.

Once you get it off, you can take it to a mchine shop and have a steel insert installed.
Much stronger than a heli-coil and cheaper than welding and drilling and taping.
