I was cleaning an engine from a Series 3 Spider (Bosch Injected) the other day, and I noticed a strange (not previously seen by me) brass plug on the timing chain cover. The area appears to be factory casted that way. (So it does not appear to be a fabrication by the previous owner). Has anyone seen this before or know the function of the hole? (My best guess is an oil cooler return line, but I am aware of an AR part for this).
