Hello

Could someone tell me if there is any way to get the oil out of the steering box without disassembling it and how much oil should be added. What is regulated with the adjusting screw? It is for alfa 2000 ar 102.

thanks

Setting is as attached - do not overtighten, It is really a question of feel. To drain the oil out you have to wait for the seal at the bottom of the steering box to fail then it drains itself! A dentists blood /flem sucker may work but there is little space to get a tube in the top.

The quantity is given in the Tech. Specs (Pub. 912).

In these modern times, I would suggest you try to find something like Penrite steering box lube rather than using the 90 weight oil specified.

Not quite sure on recommended choice. The box is a very simple worm/sector gear system. It’s not heavily loaded. I use any 90W EP gear oil. The Extreme Pressure components are probably overkill, but are suitable for the design.

The problem is that 99% of the time the gears are interfacing in one, general location. Sooner or later, that area will wear.
