Just drove back-country roads from Portland to Walla Walla.

Gotta say, up to 85, shaking and shimmying. 85 to 90, nearly unbearable.

90 plus; sweet baby Jesus, its like the car hunkers down and says, lets see what we can do.

The steering is spot on and true, the vibrations, gone, the engine note, music.

Anybody else experience this??

I think you have a wheel balance issue. Yes, they should perform well at high speeds but the shake and shimmy at moderate speeds is not normal.

Every Alfa I've owned did "come into focus" nicely at high speeds, though, so I understand your point there completely.

I agree. I think the front 2 tires have flat spots from not being driven for 2 years by the previous owner. The sad thing is they have lots of tread on them.
