Hello Alfisti,

This is not a happy post because I am troubled over what to do with two cars that were flooded in Katrina.

I have a 1991 Spider Veloce which was pretty darn pristine and ran strong. Well she got fresh water up to the dash. I drained all fluids and replace with fresh, got new plugs, new ECU ($800) and I have let her sit since. It seems to me that it would only take a bit of effort and not too much! money to actually get her going. But I don't have the time or skills.

The other is a 1976 Spider with pretty much the same story. Body is great but the interior is bad. All fluids drained and filled with oil. I thought about making it a race car... if anyone is interested in forming a little SQUADRA CORSE with me... I have a great starting point!

One brilliant mechanic said that he's confident that he could get the '91 going but he's 500 miles away!

Thoughts, suggestions are appreciated. Grazie!

Hello Alfisti,

Sorry to hear about your loss

If a mechanic 500 miles away can get them going, then an able mechanic 500 yards away should be able to get them going, too.

What would worry me more is, that it was not done long ago. Hope the cylinders was filled with oil or diesel right after water was drained.

Erik
