My 91 Spider S4 (USA Version) has developed a problem while driving (engine warm)
The revs die as you lift off the accelerator at speed and the car seems to try to return to Idle the accelerator pedal does nothing at this stage.

if i turn off the car and re-start all is OK and i drive it normally until the fault happens again some time later (twice in 30 min today) .

is this likely a AFM problem or the Lambda sensor or something else?

seems odd the fault goes when it's powered off/on again.
any ideas would be welcome.

you might try posting this over in the 66-94 spider section...lots of S4 drivers there.

does the rev counter needle drop right down onto the resting peg (peg is at about 400rpm mark) when you lift off the gas...kinda like someone has cut the electricity?
