Hi Guys, new to the forum and thought I would post my first challenge in the "mild" restoration of my 77 Spider.
Inspected the oil vapour separator and no surprise, gummed up. I proceeded to wash out with all manner of solvents, petrol, carb cleaner, degreaser, ultrasonic cleaning etc and sludge slowly started to come out. Then chunks of rust...
I thought "time to give up" and I cut it in half to find it still totally blocked.

I proceeded to remove the honeycomb section from the body and found it was actually in good condition and once seperated, cleaned up very well. Machined a few bits and pieces and the result below. Heavy wall and two piece held together with a couple of grub screws so it can always be opened to clean. Inner honeycomb case is also domed as original and was salvaged from an industrial air silencer.
