After following thread on "in-tank" fuel pump replacements, I bought one for the main pump, a E7334 by Airtex for my '87 Spider. It didn't work at all so I removed it and jumped to a 12V battery pack. It pulsed once and quit. I sent it back and got a new one, installed and it worked for a few minutes and quit. So I either have the wrong pump or doing something else wrong.

Any suggestions?
