The last item (plus sump guard), to install on my 74 spider project is the front sway bar. The bar is in place but I cannot seem to find the right size bolts for the top of the bushing clamp.

I bagged everything but somehow missed these two bolts. I have tried 8MM 1.0 and 1.25. 7 MM is too small. I even tried 5/16ths fine to see if there was some kind of swap with the PO. The car did have some light front end damage before I bought it in 77.

Any thoughts? I suppose I could re tap but there is not a lot of meat for these bolts as it is.

Thanks!

John,

I feel your pain. Have you tried to clean out or chase the existing thread with a tap? My GTV is 8 mm x 1.25 mm. Or, maybe someone used a thread insert repair (Helicoil) and as you mentioned, it may now be SAE or of a different size.

Good luck,

-Doug

I was waiting for a reply or two before I do run a tap. I'll go with your size; I can see the threads and I would guess 1.25 over 1.00

Thanks a lot!
