In replacing my top I started working on redoing the Bow. After peeling back the Bow cover I found the plastic "L" shaped molding piece, but it has two notchs carved out (see image)
Is this normal or did someone do this to help fit the latchs,
Also the plastic piece go on the inside before the cover is put on or on the outside after the cover is put on.
Any help will be appreciated,

Thanks
Roger

Spider 85 Top Bow

Your thread and pictures are great it will help me greatly in putting everything back in place. I have been taking some pictures as I go just so I can remember how things came apart, but I don't think who ever put the last top on did it right.

I have cleaned up the bow and the rest of the top frame and painted it with rust-o-leum (black satin), looks good. There was a lot of surface rust under the front bow cover. I doubt if most remove the cover from the bow when replacing the top, but the last owner never put the top up so there was allot of weather damage.

Thanks for the tip and I'm going to try to put it back together without the notchs. In any case I'll post some photos later for anyone who is going to redo the complete bow and frame.
