Our AROC chapter had a tech session yesterday in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Several weeks ago, a "member's request" session was scheduled. I called our Prez and asked if there would be time to fine tune my 73 GTV project car. I live 150 miles east of Tulsa and figured I had the car running well enough to make the trip.
How often do you get an ex-Alfa service manager and his ace mechanic explaining the Spica system and tuning your car while you watch?

The cars (9, I think) are poking out to make room for 8' X 18' slot car layout that is lowered from the ceiling.

I want to thank the Oklahoma Chapter for the incredible amount of help and friendship they have provided to me and others over the years. As David said to me when I first met him and Eileen, "Car people are special."
My project car has marginal compression and tired advance springs. It ran way better than my crisp S3 Spider on the trip home.
Never underestimate the Spica mechanical fuel injection system.

Exhaust tip !

The green duetto pictured above seems to have a exhaust tip extension... I probably need one of those (smell fumes when driving). Where can one get those ?

Is it effective to keep fumes out of recirculating air ?
thanks ..

Roland-
It's a very generic piece, held on with set screws. It really doesn't look good at all in person, and it sticks out way too far. The owner put it on as temporary solution.

Tip exhaust

Darn.. I kind of thought that.... Only problem is my wife is not enjoying rides in the car anymore... and myself am getting sick of smelling like gas after a while.
I already changed the exhaust (from dual tips - from PO) to a standard straight outlet but am still getting (less) exhaust fumes. What can i do ?

Roland - With the down-turned tip, I don't get any exhaust fumes in my 74 square tail. With the upturned ANSA pipes, fumes came right in the ****pit. I'm sure the aerodynamics are a little different in the round tails, but it's worth a try. What's the outside diameter of your tailpipe? I assume it's the same 2". Let me know and I'll look around for an downturn chrome tip. In the meantime, why don't you go up to a muffler shop and get a cheap short piece of plain steel tubing bent at 90 degrees, and cut it to resemble a downturned pipe and try it. If it works, I'm sure I can find a good looking chromed tip in the States.

Exhaust

Thanks.. I have not taken a picture of my Alfa in a while. I'll do that this weekend and check the diameter. Also I'll check the angle.. Maybe I can have the outlet bent a bit toward the bottom (not sure if that is possible).
