Not sure if you did some searches on this forum regarding speedo issues but there are quite a few posts that will give you the run down on the different approaches many have taken given the difficulty of obtaining the sensors housed in the transmission, the running changes through the manufacturing run for these cars and solutions from some that have abandoned the original equipment in favor of GPS driven speedos. Its all there in gory detail. For repairs to the actual instrument, head unit, Palto Alto speedometer is a long time go-to and long time advertiser in the AROC "Alfa Owner" mag. Cheers and good luck.

If the sender is erratic the problem will be bad solder joints on the splade connectors for the plug that connects to the speedo. These joints fracture after years of vibration. It is not too difficult to fix them if you are handy with a soldering iron. The hardest part is getting access to them as the unit is sealed - you need to cut the metal band which seals it, fix the joints and then reseal the unit.
