I noticed that one of the soft-top tensioners was very slack. When I went to adjust the tensioner the wire was just pulling through. My question is where and to what is the end of this wire attached? Is this a relatively simple fix?
Any comments or pictures would be appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I had visions of the soft-top turning into an air brake 😵! One less winter job

They do keep the tension along the top window edge, which helps seal and prevent wind noise when you're travelling at speed with the hood up.
My current S4 doesn't have them as the hood was fitted by ****burns and they didn't re-fit the cables, or include provision for them in their hoods so I can't retro fit.
I had a hood fitted by Jamie Porter on a different S4 and the cables were discarded by the fitter. I fitted some myself later and it did make a difference.
