Ok I searched the forum to no avail.
Is the shifter rattle caused by the bushing where it joins the selector rod or is it internal to the shifter?

I think that you have to go under the car, grab the shift link and move it around to see where the looseness originates. There are a few places in the isostatic linkage that can wear enough to create a rattle. I had a bushing worn so badly that it was hard to select first and second gears.

Hi NM...

I had the worst rattle known to mankind in the shifter mechanism... It was pulled apart and there was wear in all sorts of places but mostly the bushes...

A shopping trip to Performatek cured it!
