What orientation should the shift cover (metal cover) be? There is a slant to it but it seems to fit both ways. Should the top of the cover be level or should it lean towards the driver? This pic has it leaning towards the driver. (next post).

Centered. The holes line up on the chassis tunnel. Any disassembled from 1st time apart cars were assembled centered. However, you can assemble it almost anyway you wish, though the boots may tend to pull it out of gear. Note the stick is centered in its "N" position. It too can be "adjusted" right or left, but factory has it centered. This is only my opinion from my own observations over time.

I did, the tunnel did indeed really go on one way. Just a lot of twisting and fiddling got it just right. Thanks!
