count me in. are you using the earlier ford short input shaft version of the t-5 or the later, around 94 up, version? i found a nice 94 v6 mustang t-5 cheap nearby but am concerned the input shaft may be too long, about a 3/4" difference. 7.18" and 7.85". very interesting work

more info.. it will be a 2 peice kit( making it easy to put togeather, and save you and i some money) this will includ.. drive shaft lenght..how to mount the tranny using the alfa mount..nice thing about this.. to remove the driveshaft.. only 4 nuts/bolts, and slip that sucker out:):)):) and an alfa box cost 2400 $ it will still use the alfa prussure plate only the t/o bearing and disk will change.. small money. and the box will last a lot longer than an alfa box, no 2 gear crunch...duel cone sycro's( if you get the w/c box) it a wonderfull and elegant solution.

i have the front plate made.:). now i just need the driveshaft adapter made..so it will work out this way.. front plate, driveshaft adapter. + instructions.. but for some of you this part might be a game changer.. not bad. but the alfa bellhousing must be machined...but then agian, there a few bellhousing out there for sale..and the tranny mount, must be worked on a bit... so you will need to take the bellhousing to your fav. machine shop, and the driveshaft must be shortend.. ( ford drive shaft ) otherwise a bolt on job.:D... and the nice thing about this fix..if at a later date you must do a clutch job.. you just drop the driveshaft, remove the tranny from the bellhousing ( 4 bolts ) then remove the bellhousing from the motor, to get to the clutch.. any questions???:):)

is the machining for input shaft clearance? i slid a spider bellhousing over the input shaft of the t5 i picked up. it was a very close fit and really needed a little more clearance to rotate freely

the imput bearing in the crank needs to be 17.2 mm. i am keeping it simple.. no maching on the t5.. just a wee bit on the alfa bellhousing, and the input shaft bush.

OK... now how many folks want this kit? please e mail me.. thanks..cost will be as low as i can make it.. but i need to know how many to make..so i can get a cost from my machinest..t5 boxs cost less than alfa boxes.. and you can use an 1 peice aluiumn driveshaft.. saving about 15 pounds, and this is rotational weight. no 2 gear grind.. very cheap to rebuild..if you ever need too..all 5 gears syncro'ed..

Then we need pictures....
I have a good alfa box with light gears etc. But I would have jumped at a t5 with a ton of options and cheaper. If it was a option at the time. If I put in a v6 I think I would go with the t5. You can even make a t5 a dog box cheap..

question. about driveshaft coupler

i can make them in really strong plastic. or alumiumn, the plastic weighs half of the alumiumn, but the plastic i am useing is stonger than the alum. you choice..the plastic is called ' UHML 'go to interstate plastic, to see the propertys. go to the plastic rod section, very bottom.

test complete on uhml plastic.. drilled 2 holes. 1- 8 mm and 1 -10 mm.. put grade 12.9 bolt nut and washer.. assb. bolted down both to 35 ft/lbs.. and i drilled them 10 mm form the edge to try to induce cracking of the plastic.. no cracking, and after i removed the nuts/bolts/washers, there was no indintation of the plastic.. so this will make a great adapter plate between the alfa rear axle, and the ford driveshaft. but the rear axle bolt holes must be drilled out to 10 mm. i will supply the correct nuts and bolts for this, in the kit.. the bolts will hold the adapter and alfa flange on the shoulder of the bolts. only the threads will be exposed, perfect fit.
