I did it. There are options. I bought a belt set from somewhere in Europe that was marketed as the type for Alfas. Don't recall the name, but I think the normal Alfa merchants have them.

My car came with pre-installed welded nuts in the trans tunnel, high on the B pillar (for shoulder harness)' and on the outer rail.

I mounted the retraction mechanism on either side of the rear seat cushion. I plan to fabricate a vinyl covered cover to clean up the look by hiding the retractor.

It might be possible to mount the retractor lower and hidden by the side panel, but in the end I decided that had too many problems.

I used a set of front belts from a 75 (Milano).
I had to add an extra fixing at the base of the B pillar to bolt the retractor to, but otherwise it was all fine.
The buckle stalks are at a nice height and have the Alfa symbol on them.
