This almost happened to me. The car was 6 months new to me back in '96, I came off the highway doing 120mph, driving to my house and I smell gas. I think its the car in front of me until he turns off, I'm 3 blocks from my house now and the smell is stronger, drive down the driveway and shut the car off. Well, the fuel line that goes right past the right side exhaust header developed a pin hole and was spraying fuel onto the head and dripping onto the headers sizzling the fuel. I certainly dodged a bullet that day and maintain the fuel lines with top quality high pressure hose. I have seen this before!

the car is from Germany, owner is Erich Fleischacker, former Alfa dealer in Eschwege. We know us since over 30 years, he lives just 65 km far. It was a schock for us to see the pics in newspaper (was 15th Oct 2017). I add a few pics of his car.
I don't know what Erich did with his car, I guess he sold the rest to somebody (?)...
VERY painful

I had something similar with fuel lines. Heartbreaking. I just finished the rebuild from this 3 years later..
