I want to replace the old style bend droplink from my 70 GT and are also busy replacing rod end with heim\rose joints.

Q: I've seen some examples of these joint used on the front rollbar and I also see the S4 blade type is recommended, but for the life of me can't find any examples of how they connect the ''blade'' end with the heim\rose bearing ends?

all the other end's i've redone using machined rods inside the original tapered holes used by the old balljoints - but I''ve ran out of talent with connecting this 29mm S4 'blade' roll-bar.

Please if anyone that's done this please post some examples - this is purely for race application.

There's a pair of nuts and bolts in the kit we sell that's not shown in the top picture. This is used the with the top hat washers you can see to bolt the upper end of the links to the bar. If you buy the "rose jointed drop link kit" you get all the parts you need to attach the S4 bar to the old style bottom wishbone pins.

The thing that Classic Alfa are listing is the adaptor you need to convert an early car (in practice ALL GTs) to take the S4 drop link which is an entirely different thing!

The last photo you've got is a pre production version which was being tested on the race car. We can supply something similar if you're running the old style pin type bar ends.

When I'm back in work I'll post a picture of the rose jointed version in place but here's the S4 version-

Jim,

Thanks allot for your input. I was wondering about these bolts, one would need it with this application as well as the spherical (like the tie-rod ends) holes. I was thinking to manufacture my own, but I thought I'll first ask alfaholics, if you'll not sell all these bolts all-round, the roll bar as well as the track rod ends 'bolts' - connections to the rose joints separately?

(Also while I have someone knowledgeable here) Question is; do they also have to fit exactly in the same manner (talking about the tie-rod holes again) in the tapered holes

Ok, back in work now. Haven't got a picture of one on a car as we haven't got anything here right now with these fitted but here's one side of a "rose jointed drop link kit" so you can see what you get.

I just want to know if one can buy these bolts, basically all the bolts that one use for the front suspension bolting to the rose joint holes.

Aren't the holes for the old tie-rod on the uprights and steering tapered?

Ok, those are just an M12 bolt and nut so you'd be able to get those pretty much anywhere.

Yes, the holes for the tie rods and uprights are tapered, the reason why I was confused was because I've been talking about anti roll bar drop links so you baffled me with the talk of tapers. There are no tapers in the drop link set as you can see from the picture.

I'm 50 years old at the end of the year so I need at least three weeks written notice if you're going to wade off into the murky waters of "off topic".:D

I'm sure Max will sell them separately but you're going to need to ask him because I'm on holiday! You may find that it's cheaper and easier in the long run to just buy the whole kit from him though, we've already done all the hard work so you don't have to!

Email him at [email protected]

The parts you want are either a "rose jointed track rod kit" or if you really want to re-invent the wheel and spend hours making threaded rods that aren't quite the right length ;) "taper pins for the rose jointed track rod kit".
