I will probably start a debate but what have you found that works base to clean and soften leather in a 1990 S3 spider and also what preserves them the best?
The vinyl sides are a different color tan than the leather centers. Which one has changed color over time and how do i get them to match again. These are tan in color.
Were there different tans between 1986 and 1990 or just one?
THanks

the vinyl is more likely to have faded.
Not sure what tan your 1990 S3.5 has,
but if they are like my S4 tan seats, then SEM palomino #15323 is a perfect match spray, and really easy to use.

Of course it is a spray so you want the seats out of the car, and the hardware removed, unless you want tan spray all over the place;)

here I have sprayed the vinyl sides after separating seat back from seat bottom to get a good finish. (the leather part I treated with a leather color, expertly matched to a snippet I sent a company, here in Germany)

Before, the sides were almost white after 30 years of UV rays!

quite satisfying job....factor in a few days and then you will get a good finish...doing light coats, allowing to dry, cleaning up all the hinges, cleaning and lubricating seat rails etc

Pleased with the outcome on mine:

Thanks for the replies
Dom, I guess the 1990 has darker seats. I just happened to have a can of SEM 15323 that I used on a Fiat 124 Spider a couple of years ago. It is lighter than my leather.
It looks like the color of my 1986 interior.
Could my leather have gotten darker? It was recently cleaned ans the color looks consistent on it.

Well, they originally were from a 1987 Spider. If they were replaced, it was a looooong time ago.
Thanks

They look like oryginal ones, but they look tired and cleaning won't change to much :( If the leather is free from big cracks and soft in touch you could change the foams and repaint seats with proper technology! It will stand for next years looking good.
