I just discovered that I installed my engine fan blade backwards when I replaced my crackshaft front seal last summer. Does anyone know if the fan blade can be removed without removing the radiator?

I was able to remove the fan without taking out the radiator but to pull it out I needed to remove the shroud. Pulling up the shroud and fan at the same time. beware you will get bloody knuckles

I am installing a new crankshaft seal, radiator and water pump on my '88 S3 spider. Just installing the driven fan, which I cleaned, and now I can't tell which way it is supposed to go on the pulley. I believe the less recessed side is the front, and the deeper recessed part of the fan covers the aluminum spacer on the front of the water pump! Can you confirm fo rme the orientation.

Thanks

Thanks. Yep normally take pictures when I know going to be disassembled for a while. A recalcitrant crankshaft seal took me three weeks to remove (not planned)!
