Hey folks,
I avidly follow any track-day videos of Montreal's that appear on YouTube and there's something that has left me with a question; is it common for the RPM meter to show much higher values than is the case or was the scale changed at some point?

With my car the 7k rpm mark is around the 2:30-3pm (for want of a better analogy) mark but I've now frequently seen examples where the needle is buried!

Consider:

This fella, bless, appears to have bested my lap-time by more than 12 seconds on this track that day ... but it was my first outing of my late dad's old car so in my defense I was taking it slow to say the least! ;)

Here's my cautious nosing around the track:

Cheers,
Peter

Having watched those a few times it seems obvious that his RPM meter is nowhere near as it looks like it's up on 3-4k at idle... in any case, for the musing value of it, is this a common thing?
