Hi "Richards",
Thank you for posting this superb picture. An A11.....that is a rare thing to have as a car transporter. The A11 (and F11 van version) was a de-tuned version of the A12 to allow it to get into the centre of some Italian cities which had engine horse power restrictions in force.
Are you able to email me the garage which owns this A11 please or ask them to email me as I like to keep a record of fellow Alfa Romeo commercial vehicle owners and their vehicles. I have an A12 car transporter and a Romeo 2 van. I would like to get the chassis number of this A11.
Thank you and best regards, James.

Hi Richard,
I'm sorry I missed you at to Alfa Centenary here in Australia. I ran my Replica at the Club event and had one of the best week ends ever. It was an honor to be part of an event that had so many significant cars. I was like a little boy in a lolly shop. Can we have some more picturs of the car that started it all for me, please.
Best regards
Jim

Hi Jim,

I am the owner of the 1972 Alfa Romeo A12 that Alex showed you photographs of on this thread. I also have a 1957 Alfa Romeo Romeo 2 Furgone (van).

Alfa Romeo made car transporters in several sizes. The smallest from the 1950s to 1970s was the Romeo 2 and A12, then there was the A19 which is really just a Renault Saviem with an Alfa Romeo badge on it. There were also the large trucks the factory used for hauling thier cars to dealerships and race meetings. The last Alfa Romeo commercial vehicle was the AR6 and AR8 of 1986 which were Fiat Ducatos and Ivecos with Alfa Romeo badges on them.

Alfa Romeo made many commercial vehicles, all of which could have different bodies fitted to them. You need to buy the book Alfa Romeo Camion by Massimo Condolo, it is a detailed book on all Alfa Romeo commercial vehicles.

It took me nearly three years to find my Romeo 2 and then the A12 found me - I was called by the vendor as he knew I had the Romeo 2. They are so incredibly rare and hardly ever come up for sale.

A company called Portal Classics near Milan had a red A12 by Scattolini for sale when I bought my A12. I went to look at it and it was complete and original but would have needed some work. I just tried their web address and it didn't work.

I was offered an A19 by some one at Luzzago in Brescia in June of this year as he knew I was after an Alfa Romeo car transporter, not realising I had since bought my A12. It is not on their web-site as it wasn't officially for sale. I will try and attach some photographs here of this and an Alfa Romeo Mille transporter by Bartoletti, the coachbuilder that built all the famous Italian car transporters.

Have a look on my web-site at AlfaGarage.co.uk and go to Specialist/Classic and then BWG Collection to see brief information of Alfa Romeo commercial vehicles.

Sorry if this is messy as I rarely go onto forums - lack of time. I was told of this thread by a friend of mine who seems to live on this forum!

Best of luck in your search. James.
Wowee, what is the big Car Transporter AR commercial?

Even though my job is selling trucks.... I still love the old ones... Ive been keeping my eyes peeled for an old-old FIAT truck to buy & restore... But, if I could add an Alfa truck.. Oh, be still my beating heart!

Currently one for sale in the Netherlands. Price: Euro 4750 I do not know the garage selling the car, no affiliation at all, though in general people tend to speak english very well in the Netherlands.
If needed I can contact them and check things out for an interested BB'er. Would love to have one, but for the moment a simple trailer would do, still haven't got a racecar yet.

below are links to the garage which is +/- 100 miles from where I live

Marktplaats.nl > alfa romeo f 12 - Auto's - Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo, Giulia, f12 oprijauto auto te koop - AutoScout24
