My old alternator was only charging around 13VDC when hot so I replaced it with a 75A upgrade alternator I bought on e-bay. It's charging 14.5VDC at the battery now but the battery idiot light remains on. Is this just a nuisance or should I be concerned? My car is an '88 Spider Veloce.

I think you might have a loose wire somewhere, I've never had a problem with an alternator, starters yes, is the light always on(start, run, highway driving)? Go back and check all the wires, you just might find a loose wire.
(if this works don't quote me, I've never worked on one of these)

they dont charge thru the light, only use current thru the light to power the alternator till it starts charging. could be the terminal the light is hooked to is grounded.
