How in the heck do I replace the A/C belt on a '74 spider? There is an idler pulley that I can access from underneath the car, but it doesn't seem to have spring tension on it like a normal idler pulley.
The pully on my 84 is a two piece pully with spacer rings for belt tension. When you remove the pully bolts the pully will seperate and you can remove the belt.
Turns out there's a locknut on the idler pulley. (it was kind of hidden by anti-sway bar) Loosen it up and pulley swings in normal idler fashion, belt popped right on.
