I have the factory workshop manual that says how to remove the seats on a 90 S3. Front bolts came out easy, but the rears are buried under the seat even when it is pushed fully forward. T-handle with swivel head won't bend that far and I have no young children with small hands. Any suggestions?

From memory (not always reliable) there are seat slide stops under the front bolts. When those are removed the seat will move forward another inch or so to allow access to the rear bolts. I think...

also, while you are in there.. flip up the rug, clean it out the best you can.. touch up and pealing paint( remove any rust).. and replace the phillips head screws with allen button heads.. it will make it easyer to instale and remove at a later date.

Seats Removed

OK, the seats came out thanks to the advice on this site. Followed the manual's advice and removed the front bolts. What was preventing the seat from moving forward enough to reach the rear bolts was the seat-stops in the front track. They had to be removed. Although they are held down by the front mounting bolts, they kinda remain stuck in the track and don't come out with the bolts. Thanks to everyone here. It gets lonely in the garage when you're faced with what looks like a simple problem that has no logical solution.
