You cannot do it for specific threads... Whatever option you have selected regarding e-mail notification (instantly, daily, weekly, or no notification) applies to all threads that you are participating in. You participate, or subscribe to a thread, as a result of posting on that thread. You may also subscribe to a thread that you have never posted on by selecting "Thread Tools/Subscribe".

What you can do is "unsubscribe" from the thread that you don't want to receive e-mails about. You could also stop all your e-mail notifications, and just check for updates to all threads that you are subscribed to by clicking on "User CP".

To change the E-mail Notification:
  1. Click on "User CP", and a new page will come up.
  2. On the left of the new page look for "Edit Options", and click on it. A new page will come up.
  3. Look in the middle of the page for the section titled "Messaging & Notification", and look at the drop down box under "Default Thread Subscription Mode". That is where you can choose: instant, daily, etc.

Email notification of thread responses

Actually, you can also have different notifications for a whole forum. For example, if I unsubscribe to all of the odd threads in offtopic, an understatement, I could go to the top level of the offtopic forum, then select the "forum tools" dropdown and subscribe to the entire forum. You would be given 3 notification options of no email, daily notification, or weekly. It cuts out a lot of email traffic.

Yes, I was aware of the "Forum Tools", but I didn't think that lgbalfa was looking for distinctions between forums... When I read "how do i do this for a specific post but not all posts ?", I interpreted this to mean a distinction between threads, and I am aware that he participates in many threads within the same forum... It is good that you have pointed this out however, as it always good to have complete info.

Best regards,

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
