Does anyone have some good recomendations for removig carbon buildup from valves? They are out of the car.

I have a set that I want to try to clean here at home without going thru the hassel of having them bead blasted at a machine shop.

I guess this depends on how bad they are to begin with but I have carefully scraped the piled up stuff wiith my Gene Autry knife and then soaked them in carb cleaner for a couple days. I use the carb cleaner that NAPA sells in the gallon can with the little bucket in it. It softens the stuff up pretty good. Cleans spark plugs also.

cleaning your valves

on my bench grinder, i have a grider one side and a wire brush on the other. the wire brush side cleans em up pretty good. if you want, swing by the shop tomorrow and i can show you how to use it, your valves will be clean in no time. i also might be there sunday as well working on my car's. anyways, gimme a call tomorrow morning. try to be there early so you have enough time to do them all.
