I have a 1991 164 Twin Spark. Since yesterday the rear left door cannot unlock. I suppose the motor has given up. I tried to lift up the door button but it does not move. Does anyone know how to open the door in order to get to the motor? Thanks.

Some people manage to unlock cars with a steel ruler going down on the exterior side of the window and tripping the unlock linkage. Don't know if it will work on this car though.

I bought a NOS door lock. Studied the mechanism and levers.
I lowered the door window all the way down. Inserted into the gap a thin metal rod with L-shaped bend at the end and started fishing for the lever circled in the photo. When the lever was pulled away from the device, the lock released.
In foreground of photo is the thin metal rod. Can also use a wire clothes hanger.
