Hi Benjo,

Just found this whilst looking to try to find a solution for my brother's GTV6. He has no problem with gearchange noises, but has a clunking noise from the front area of the propshaft when switching off.

Did you find a cause, and, more importantly, did you find a solution?
Noise

he V6 cars have a splined joint to accomodate variences in shaft length. It should be clamped tight. Takes a 17mm socket & is accesable through the oppening in the bottom of the rear engine support.

Thanks for your help. Spot on advice! The fault was in the joint - the spline was worn and tightening up of the splined joint had no effect. The joint has been replaced and the noise has gone. Great!

Don't you mean Alfa owners must have invented forums? ;) :D
