I saw him win in Anderstorp 1978 with the Brabham Alfa 46B and that is actually the last time an Alfa won GP until today, we are still waiting for an Alfa win!

Niki Lauda was always a special guy, very precise and scientific about his race cars, not willing to take stupid risks. Look at the film "Rush" from 2013 about the race opponents James Hunt and Niki Lauda.
The race fans will miss Niki Lauda as agreat personality!

One of my most admired drivers, and after reading a biography you have to admire how he got more out of life than most. RIP

Wasn't the last official F1 win by an Alfa powered car in 1978 when Lauda and Watson were classified 1st and 2nd in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, driving their Brabham Alfa BT46s? Andretti and Villieneuve penalized for jumping the start which sent the Alfa powered cars to the top of the podium. Lauda a great champion!

I am very sad to hear this news....he was one of my hereos as a teenager when I was an avid F1 follower. Highlighted by a brief encounter at work where he paid a visit to our factory and where he walked the floor greeting everyone who wanted to meet him. I managed to bring along a photo of him in the Alfa F1 racecar and he graciously signed it. He seemed to be a very straight forward man....no airs about him at all....very gracious.

Truly remarkable man. By force of will he survived when others would have given way. Bought himself almost 50 extra years and died peacefully rather than turmoil. Left a legacy of a true champion and not of a motor race tragedy.

Last of a great trio: James Hunt, Niki Lauda and Ronnie Peterson!

Here som great obituaries of Niki Lauda. Quite entertaining story from an episode when he apparently was looking for his lost ear at the corner he crashed at Nürburgring.
