There appears to be a small lens on the console just left of the power window buttons. Does this have anything to do with the interior lights coming on when the doors are opened? Sometimes they come on. Sometimes they don't.

Nothing I've heard of.

Have you cleaned the switches in the door sills near the hinges? (two on drivers side, one or two on passenger side)

If they're dirty or partially corroded, the interior lights will do goofy stuff like that.
