Hi Again
As part of my 164 restoration I'm replacing a leaky rack. I'm going to flush the fluid from the system and replace with new. My question is what kind of fluid is the best choice ?
Thanks

When I replaced my rack back in October, I also replaced all the lines. I used Castrol Dexron III replacement fluid. Not a problem since then.
Same here! I have even used valvolene! Whatever floats your boat. I think I may have some redline, valvolene and Castrol all mixed up in mine;)Most of the Stuff out there is pretty good as it all meets the same requirements.

I actually use Valvoline Synthetic Power Steering fluid in my 164 and have for years but to flush it out first before you change rack use regular good brand of Dextron III ATF and it is fine to use as power steering fluid in the 164, too.
