Dear Alfisti,

For detailed article about 8C 2900B Speciale Le Mans, which will be published at my personal site, I'm looking info about post-war races for this unique car. And I do hope that the local experts could help me.

As I see from my research the first post-war race for 8C 2900B Speciale Le Mans was the race which Simon Moor in his book "Immortal 2.9: Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 A&B" mentioned as "Flying Kilometer of the Roma". This race was held at April 28, 1946 and I can't find mention about this race in the web except this:

Risultati sportivi della Lancia Aprilia-Altre corse - Wikipedia

Follow the link and see the 1946 section.

Does anybody have the full results for the "Flying Kilometer of the Roma" and (it would be really great) the pics with 8C 2900B Speciale Le Mans from the race?

Thanks a lot in advance for help.

I found the article cited by the Zwischengas web site, which was originally published on page 3 of the Swiss newspaper "Automobil Revue" No. 20, dated 15-May-1946:

AR #20 15-May-1946 (Kilometerlance Rom).jpg

The article roughly translates as follows:
A flying Kilometer near Rome

A kilometer race with flying start, organized by the roman automobile club, was recently held on the freeway Rome-Ostia. The race was open to naturally aspirated sports- and touring cars. The event became a great success with numerous spectators.

Results:

Best time for touring cars: Tuccimel (Maybach) 122.699 km/h. Best time sports cars: Paolini (Alfa Romeo) 161.218 km/h.
Bernabei reached, with a super-charged 8-cylinder Alfa Romeo not in competition, an average speed of 199.225 km.

All of these drivers were members of the recently founded Scuderia Roma.
So, maybe it may worthwhile to track down some local newspapers of the period and to find out more about Scuderia Roma.

Here the video about 1946 "Flying Kilometer of the Roma" from Archivio Storico Luce. From description:

"Gara del chilometro lanciato per auto da turismo e da sport di varia cilindrata sull'autostrada Roma- Ostia. Trentanove concorrenti italiani e stranieri. Vincitore Igino Bernabei su una Alfa 2000 ( 200 Km/h)."

Well done! I totally had forgotten about the Archivio Storico Luce -- thank you for reminding us that such a great archive exists.
