PLEASE HELP... WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES, 1978 VS. 1979 SPIDER 2000 (USA versions)

I have the ability to buy, inexpensively, a 1979 Spider as a parts car.... the car I'm restoring is a 1978.

I'm looking for help to learn what are the differences between the two cars.... my 1978 was made in 5/78 (May 1978).... The 1979 in 4/79 (April 1979)

I need to make a decision swiftly... so any light you can shine on this question is MUCH appreciated.

Thank you!!

People might be able to point out some small differences in trim or something, but my understanding is that those two cars should have been virtually identical from the factory.

Both had the SPICA injection?

Correct. I don't believe the Bosch FI came along until 1982.

'79 was a transition year for interior trim. The early 79's are like 78's and the late ones are like 80's but there seems to have been several permutations. Mechanically they should be identical or close to it.

Ok then...I appreciate the help very much.

So we'll take it further...

What is the difference between a "Late 79" (that is like a 1980) and the 78/79 cars.

Is it just the interior? Other than badges (Aka script/emblems)... did the body change at all on the late-79/80's Spiders?

Also...When did the USA Alfa Spiders switch over to EFI from the factory (when did the factory ditch the SPICA system in the USA Spiders?)

Thanks in advance and for sharing your experience with me.

82 was the first year for Bosch FI. 80 & 81 had spica with a single throttle plate, a system that is considered by many to be inferior to the earlier Spica. They were the first Spiders to get VVT.
