Hi All-

I'm in the middle of a complete teardown of an 87 Spider, including removing the passive restraint (aka rat-track) system. The tracks have already been clipped, and consensus is it's a crappy system best replaced with a more traditional 3 point belt. So a couple questions for the collective intelligence...

1. Can someone confirm the pictured connector behind the driver door is part of this system and can be removed? It wasn't connected to anything when I started the project.

2. Any hesitation with removing all the associated wiring (and there is a ton) all the way back to (and out of) the fuse box?

Grazie. Tom.

I think that’s the power connector for the lights and defroster in the optional hardtop

Was the Rat-Track system in the 87? I had an 87 Grad, and it had the regular 3 point system. Maybe it was a Quad thing?

The electric seat belts covered the late 87's and early 88's. The system was so bad that alfa stopped using it and reduced the number of imports to get around the passive restraint law.
