Hi All,

I have had an 89 Verde for the last year and am enjoying it immensely as i iron out the little issues.

I have a Greg Gordan Intake kit and have attempted to chase down all vacuum leaks although I still do not have an RPM change when I remove the dipstick.

Anyway....... my current issue.

The throttle response is dramatic at low RPMs. Specifically as I ease off the throttle. I will get to a point very near the end of the throttle return and the car will "chop", it feels like the fuel cuts out to early.

Acceleration is similar, a dramatic kick when I am trying to be gentle to start off.

I also have a roughness from 1500 - 3000 RPM that may or may not be related.

Any suggestions are much appreciated as I have a few hours in the garage this weekend.

This is not a huge issue although it is not as smooth as my 164 was.

Cheers,

Jordan

First thing that comes to mind here, is that the throttle position switch is adjusted incorrectly.

try to make it so that the faint click heard as the idle switch is engaged happens just barely as the throttle is advanced from its stop. what its likely doing now is clicking some ways off from the stop, so the throttle feels dead, then 'part throttle' is selected with too much throttle opening, and the surge as it comes to life.

also, if the ECU senses 'idle' at any rpm above 1300, the fuel is shut off an a 'deceleration' mode.

Thanks Brendan,

The TPS was out of adjustment although not as I had expected.

It was set so that the TPS never closed, the signal to ECU was that the throttle was never closed.

It is now adjusted as you described and eh drivability is improved.

Cheers,

Jordan
