I am still sorting out my new 74 GTV 2000 and I am trying to figure out among other things, how to reattach the panels that go behind the headlights in the fender well. Mine are attached to the car on the vertical panel close to the radiator, and the other side which must attach to the fender close to the side markers is flapping in the breeze, and hitting the tire on sharp turns. How is this panel supposed to attach on the fender side?

It doesn't (on 1750s anyway). The only attachments are on the inside vertical. Three screws if memory serves. It's an unfortunate common practice to simply bend the splash guard out of the way rather than remove it to gain access. Simple fix though. Remove the panel and bend the attaching tabs such that when the panel is installed, the rubber weatherstrip on the outer portion of the splash guard is in constant contact with the inner fender.

You could also try putting a longer side bumper bar attaching bolt in there to hold it more firmly on the fender side.
Just a thought that I use.
And use good screws that are tight on the inner gaurd.
Hey Jim (papajam),you are a great sorce of information. Thanks for all the help.

Hey Robtechno.
Are you the guy that bought the original GTA rocker cover of me?.
If you are= hello.
Anyway, the pics show the headlamp removal.
First, remove the headlamp chrome surround=pull it off.
Second= you will see(if its still there),a plastic ring which you pull and dissconnect off the headlamp.
Then, twist the headlamp.Out it comes.have a good look at it,and you will see what I mean.
If the plastic ring is gone,a suitable pair of pliers will help.
Hope this helps,
Last pic=headlight surround= remove first.
Last pic=without chrome surround.
Second pic= without headlamp.
Sorry they are not in order.

Hi Robert, yeah it's me, good talking to you again.
Are you talking the smaller inner lights, I do know that what you discribe is working for the outer lights. Does this work the same for the smaller inner lights.

Thanks
All the best

Hi again Robert.

Im still crying after that transaction with you,but I will survive.
Gee it looked great on my wall.
The same applies for both headlamp removals= inner + outer.
The inner headlamp has the pull ring at about 11 o'clock and the outer at about 5 o 'clock.
Usually it is broken off or missing,so use a pair of pliers to pull it off.
Also, lubricate it before putting it all back together.
Hope this helps,

Robert

Hi again.

The middle picture is the inner headlamp holder, but its 180 degrees out.
The middle picture shows where the outter healamp ring position should be.
