I notice several Alfetta GT photos whereby the center lower section of the car is painted black as opposed to the rest of the car. Is this the way the Alfetta came from the factory or was it all one color?

I think that paint scheme was used on 84 GTV-6 models. Not sure about Alfetta GTs.

Which part of the car are you talking about the side section or the rear and front valance?
The second series Alfetta GTV`s (built `84-86) had the lower sides below the plastic strip painted charcoal.
The first series `75-80 (stainless bumper models) had the centre section of the rear valance between the body seams painted semi-gloss black and the front had a two piece black spoiler painted semi-gloss black below the bumper. This treatment made the rear look a little like a young kid with a spraycan car not becoming IMO to an otherwise fantastic looking car. Both my ser 1 Alfetta GTVs have that piece painted the body colour but the black spoiler looks good at the front.

Yes, that's it exactly. The center section of the rear valance. Agree it does not look quite right and I will paint the entire car the original color. Thanks!

i think alot of that has to do with what tail lights are in the car....imo the black f-glass/plastic filler panel that goes between the tail lights(81-86) gives a "finished" look where full black paint on the tail doesnt look bad...body color with the "big" tail lights looks goofy on "some" colors........still not sure if i personaly like the black painted area just above the rocker trim
