Well, my good old BFG 195-65-15 Touring T/A HR4 tires have come to the end of their useful life. At least two of them have and after finding two nails in the two left side tires today which when removed promptly allow them to go flat on one side only with the weight of my 164 on them. Bummer on July 3.

Had one booted and plugged and plugging other one to hold car up out of the dirt until new tires arrive so will have to suffer through and drive Quik Silver with it's Pep boys Futura 205-60-15 "performance" tires on it.

Anyhow did some www.tirerack.com , BJ Wholesale, Sam's Club and BFG web site research

I decided to order a set of BFG T/A Traction 91H tires with UTQG rating 440 AA A rating as HR4s were 400 A A and a good tire for the era. Hopefully these replacements will be good choice both in the wet and dry.

For high-speed driving, additional inflation pressure and possibly reduced tire loading and/or upsizing is required. In the absence of specific recommendations by the vehicle manufacturer, use the following guidelines based on those in the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organization Standards Manual.

t For speeds over 160km/h (100 mph), load and inflation must be adjusted according to the table below.

T-Speed Rated Sizes:

Hi Steve,

I have BFG Tracton T/A's on my LS and have thought they were great tires. They have held up fairly well althought I have not gotten anywhere near the 40K miles they said they would last. Maybe on a less heavier car they will hold up that long, but not on a 164. Even still, I have gotten almost 3 years out of them and they will be replaced sometime this summer, probably with another set. The tread pattern looks great to me, they are fairly quite on the highway, and have good corning ability. They also seem to still cost just about the same as what I paid for them from Tirerack back in early 2005. . Are you taking the car to the Detroit convention? If so, have a great trip. We can not make it but wish we could. Send over some pictures if you get a chance.

Regards,

Jeff
