old gas tank cleaning

I'm doing this job right now on my 85 spider I'm using CLR in the tank, then I used white Vinegar, then Baking soda, then pressure washer stuck in the holes and then repeat it till it looks good to you.

I watched a video on YouTube about cleaning with vinegar Found a Eastwood video also with some of their products. The CLR is the gun cleaner? How did the vinegar work out?

I'm sure you all know the old trick of putting a short piece of chain in the tank and rattle the S*** out of it.

Had a '53 MGTD with a badly rusted tank. Would constantly clog the screens, filters and that infernal SU pump. I used the Eastwood kit, with very good results. It was the step where one uses the diluted muriatic acid that did the cleaning. After that step the inside was bright silver. Amazing! Ran the car for 7 years til I sold it, with no fuel issues. The chain method won't work because of the internal baffles and sharp corners.
